£45,000 Grant Agreed for Skatepark

8.08.10pm GMT Mon 6th Feb 2006

At last Thursday's meeting of Uttlesford District Council's Community Committee, a grant of £45,000 was awarded to secure the construction of The Saffron Walden Skatepark.

Chair of the Committee, Cllr David Morson praised the efforts of the Skateboard Group who had worked so hard to raise £165,000 towards the project. He said: "This Project has arisen out of the Community and I am delighted that the Council could help to enable its completion. In so doing it is a recognition of the tremendous efforts made by those residents who had the vision and enthusiasm to make the dream a reality."

"I would also wish to pay tribute to Saffron Walden Town Council for their management support. In all this has been an excellent example of Community partnership of the highest quality."

"Local Lib Dems are committed to supporting local projects for our young people, and I hope that this grant will make sure that this project is a huge success."
